Aug 11 to Sept 17, 2022

This post is going to take me back a month to before school started and when it was still 90 degrees most days – which thankfully feels far away now. As you can see, the kids were starting to resharpen their skills before classes began.

One Saturday morning we were wondering what to do (as usual) when I opened up a map and just started looking around. I noticed a museum we’ve always meant to go to (American Heritage in Hudson), and decided to check their website. Surprise! They were having a special tank weekend. And no one loves a tank like Yen. The site said they were going to do a driving demonstration, and you could even drive a tank yourself (for hundreds of dollars). We decided to pass on that and just enjoy the show.

There are many, many more photos and videos available. Ask him if you want to see them. Here’s a very small sample.

Yen complained that the “German” soldiers looked a little too nourished for the part of the war they were discussing during the demo.

It turned out to be a nice little museum with not just tanks, but some vintage cars.

Then we went back to enjoying the cooling weather.

As the first day of school approached, Mina started to exhibit nesting behavior.

And to practice hairstyles (this one was a joke… don’t worry; she was thinking back to how Baby Mina wore her hair).

Linus didn’t get the classmate he especially wanted, and as school got closer, he got more and more anxious. And Mina was unhappy with her teacher assignment but wouldn’t tell anyone why. However, once school started, they both calmed down. Linus is definitely enjoying 2nd grade (so far) more than 1st, and Mina is making new friends already (as we knew she would).

Yesterday was Bedford Day, which is basically an excuse for everyone to come out and throw candy at each other. Mina has just joined Daisies, and her troop decided to march in the parade. Linus, Yen, and I lined up to watch, and Yen made me stand in the road so he could refine his focus. But I had to be at Mina height.

Here they are!

Here’s Mina with one of her friends. They had a lot of time together yesterday. She came over to our house because her mom had some errands to run, and I drove both girls to the parade. Then in the afternoon, we went to her birthday party.

Linus got a good haul.

And let’s see… Today we had lunch with friends and Mina got to hold their baby. Linus continues his baby phobia and kept a distance.
