November 29 – December 20, 2020

We didn’t have a huge Thanksgiving dinner this year, but we all still felt kind of stuffed and irritable in the days after. So we hopped in the car and went to the beach!

In the off-season, you can go places you’d never be able to in summer when they actually enforce “resident only” parking. Jerks.

I saw a man climb these rocks earlier and disappear behind the reeds. He came back about three minutes later, got in his truck, and left. I was mystified by what he was doing and wasn’t sure the kids should explore up there. But they did anyway and it turned out that there’s a little memorial up there, which he was clearly visiting. I warned the kids not to bother it, and we talked about how nice it was that the person’s friends had done that.

Man oh man, we collected so many rocks! This isn’t our collection, but you can see that there were a lot of choices. I also taught the kids to look for sea glass.

See the bulges in my pockets?

Back at home, Linus’s class was going to vote for whether to have Crazy Hat/Hair Day or Bring Your Stuffed Animal to Zoom Day. Linus tried on hat options just in case. Stuffed Animals won, by the way.

Our friend Marzia gave Mina this little pink camera for her birthday last year. She’s been all over the house documenting our lives. Her videos make me queasy.

Linus created a zoom call for his manatees.

Here’s some random hijinks.

Mina warmed her feet by the vent.

We had another reasonably warm day a few weeks later and ventured again to Mt Auburn. It’s so easy to get to and always cleared for walking. I honestly think we should look into buying a plot there. Morbid, I know, but prices will only go up. If you really want morbid, ask me about my friend who was married there!

Linus is still on zoom three days a week. In early February, the kindergarteners will start going in-person four days a week. He’s very excited.

We got a huge storm early in December – 16 inches! Yen and the kids loved it.

Mina has started wearing pants! Surest sign of winter.

Did you notice the huge pile of snow in the previous pictures? That’s thanks to our neighbor who plowed our driveway. The kids wrote him thank-you cards.

Here’s a horse Mina made.

Mina is suddenly very interested in legos. You can imagine the fights when they both want to construct.
