January 2020

It’s 72 degrees and sunny as I write this, but try to think back when it was old and the sun was setting at 4pm. There. Now you’re in the mood for some late Christmas carols.

And now that you’ve gotten all cold again, it’s time for a beach day! The kids set all of this up on their own.

Even Picky Beans got into the spirit.

I’ve possibly mentioned Mina’s love/hate relationship with her bear, Charlie, but her love for Picky Beans is steadfast (even if she occasionally changes her name to Squishy Chrissie).

When she’s not caring for patients, Mina kept busy this winter with her daily ballet sessions.

And there was group exercise, of course. Linus and Mina are ruthless trainers.

Linus tried out the same movies using his own baby.

And then Mina… Ugh. These kids keep pretending to birth and then nurse their stuffed animals. It’s pretty disturbing, but they do seem to be good parents.

We had some unseasonably warm weather in January and the kids got to spend quite a lot of time at the playground – or in this case, at the skate park.

They attended a birthday party at a giant bouncy house a few months ago and then insisted that Yen bring them back for visits again after.

January means Mina’s birthday, of course. We were fortunate to have quite a large group over before the whole pandemic began. This was one of the last times we got to see our friends!

For Mina’s birthay, I picked up some little birdhouses for the kids to paint.

I’ve been trying to get the kids more involved with cooking. It’s usually fun and works out well, although sometimes after we carefully separate eggs, Mina dumps the lot in with the yolks and I have step away to cool down.

And let’s just round out the month with a couple of random shots, shall we?
