Linus – Week 20
Peekaboo! What’s new this week is Linus’s favorite game. No pictures (or video) yet, but he absolutely loves it when we hide our faces and then burst out with an exaggerated gasp. Peekaboo! He still doesn’t do a big belly laugh, but it always brings out that adorable chuckle of his: huh-huh-huh.
He’s a little more clingy this week too, at least with me. Of course his love of ba noi is constant, and he loves snuggling with her. Is it possible for those eyes to get bigger or darker!?
Unfortunately he also has another new skill this week, though I’m not sure it’s a good skill: scratching. He scratches his little head whenever he’s frustrated. We thought it was itchy, so we’ve put oil on and washed it extra, but I think he’s just a little nervous habit. Yen has discovered that if he puts his own head close to Linus, the little hand moves over and scratches his head instead. It’s adorable! But we have to break him of this habit, because his little head is covered in scratches. Don’t worry: those scratches are, in turn, covered in antibiotic ointment.
Ah, the love affair with Sophie. It goes on and on. We had a smile crisis last weekend when I took him shopping at the grocery store. We brought Sophie along and he chewed on her all through the produce section. A few aisles later I looked down and there was no Sophie! We retraced our steps and found her patiently waiting on the floor of the cheese section, right where Linus had chucked her.
Another development milestone: you stick your tongue out at Linus, he sticks his tongue out at you. He’s so proud!
He’s increasingly losing interest in the pacifier. He doesn’t want it during play or lounge time. He does want it for naps most of the time, but sometimes he does a funny little move where he shakes his head and then spits it out – pa-tooey! The first two fingers on his right hand are his choice now.
Our bedtime routine always involves a little bit of stretching out on the floor and admiring the baby in the mirror.
Ooh! Naked baby! Well, almost.
Linus’s interests include: his toes.
Whether they’re hidden inside socks…
Or marinating in bath water!
I love his little towel dress after bathtime.
Here’s Linus at a Christmas party with Eli. Eli is a few days younger than Linus, but weighs almost 7 pounds more! That’s not Eli’s dad holding him – you remember Tan, surely.
There’s Ruby. You definitely know her.
Eli suddenly realized that the milk he smelled was coming from me…
We are so excited to learn that Ruby’s mom (Susie) is expecting a baby boy in June!
