Picnic at Moseley Woods
Saturday we got together for a picnic at Moseley Woods. Yes, it was cold. Yes, some moms had actually reserved the shelter for a wee people’s Halloween party. But we didn’t let any of that stop us. Not pictured: banh mi, pulled noodles, chocolate-covered pomegranate – you name it! And then we went for a walk and found a little creek.
I don’t know what I just said to Alison in this photo, but she is not buying it.
After poking the leaf-covered stream with some sticks, a tiny brook trout was discovered. Scott helped the boys out with some noodling.
Deb supervised to make sure no fish were harmed.
Here’s Betty relaxing in classic leg-up woodsman pose.
I think in this photo Yen is telling me that I’m doing it wrong. “It” being “using his camera.”
Scott just looks naturally mischievous.
Finally, Joe decided to show everyone how it’s done by flipping a log over to reveal a bunch of tiny salamanders.
Which really freaked Sukie out. She doesn’t do bugs or spiders either.
After the walk, we returned to the playground so the kids could try out the zipline. They loved it, of course.
This kid is yelling, “Dad! Dad! Get over here and help me!”
This poor little guy fell in the creek earlier, and instead of ziplining, sat shivering under dad’s coat. He’s a trooper, though – no complaining at all.
Now the other kid’s dad has arrived, and Joe’s showing him how it’s done.
