Escape Artist

Yesterday we were all outside when Mina asked me to put her in the car. She said she wanted to play. I opened the front door, but she said no, she wanted to get in the back. I closed the front door and opened the back door. She climbed inside and instructed me to close the door. I told her it was a bad idea and that she’d get stuck. She was adamant and, because I’m a negligent monster, I closed the door and walked away from her.

Then I went off to weed Linus’s digging place with him and forgot the whole thing. Luckily she was in the garage and it was a cool day – so I assure you all she was never in any danger.

She told me later that she cried for a while (“A very long time, mama!”) and then realized the driver’s side window was open. She climbed into the front, out the window, and proceeded to pound on the door of the house until Ba Noi let her in and soothed her with some seaweed crackers.

After she yelled at me, I told her I was impressed with her problem solving and asked if she would show us how she climbed out. She agreed and Yen captured a video.
