New Scooters

A few of you have expressed surprised that the kids don’t have scooters. We have resisted buying them because we were worried it would interfere with learning to bike. But now the kids are both confident cyclists, so that’s less of a concern.

I noticed a few weeks ago that they were using the old balance bike to glide around the yard, and decided that it was time to get scooters.

As you can imagine, Mina took to hers immediately, and has taken to gliding around with one leg held high behind her. Linus was a slower start, but he’s up and running too – in fact he’s joined me on a run by scooting along beside me.

One interesting fact: while both kids are right handed, Linus rests his left leg on the scooter as most righties would, but Mina rests her right leg. She’s never expressed any other leftie tendencies, so it’s just curious.
