Staying Busy

For the benefit of future reading: we’re still locked inside, waiting out COVID-19. We’re on the 4th week, and we’ve developed a bit of a rhythm – which isn’t to say there isn’t a moment each day when I’m grateful the neighbors’ houses are far enough away that they can’t hear the screaming.

But we’re trying to stay busy. I’ve got a small collection of examples for you to enjoy from your own lockdown – or from the beautiful future in which this is all over and we’re playing outside again.

First up is Mina the witch. Make sure you have sound on so you can hear her “Zoom! Zoom!” and stay to the end, when she’ll pose before running away like a little alligator.

Speaking of little Mina… She’s not so little anymore! This week she discovered that she’s tall enough to reach the light switch! She’s incredibly proud. At night when she goes into the bathroom to brush her teeth, she reaches for the stool out of habit before saying, “No, no, you don’t need it!” Then she flips on the light.

We’re certainly getting use out of our large yard. The kids decorated their climbing tree all over with rocks as well as a little animal skull they found somewhere in the yard. They call it the Halloween tree.

This is also a good time to practice skills, so Mina has been getting out the tennis racket most evenings. Even I’m starting to improve!

And as always, Linus’s best friend Bartleby is with us.
