Summer weather is here at last, and the kids have really been enjoying it. We take our evening walks, and Linus waters my garden for me (he shouts, “Mah ah!” whenever his watering can is empty. That’s “more water!”). We dragged some our patio furniture up to the deck so we can all sit outside together in the evenings. So if summer is here, that means our little Mina is getting older. I’m sad to report that as her hair gets longer, it’s not standing up anymore. I miss that. But she’s still the cutest darned kid in town.
Linus’s obsession with vehicles continues. He’s got the shirts, and he’s got the models. He’s got so many now that when you read a book to him about construction, he runs to get all of the toys and lines each up with its page in the book.
I mentioned last month that our little gentleman likes to drink his miso soup right out of the bowl. He’s still at it!
Mina is so ticklish now! I sit with her on the couch each evening and make her giggle.
Poor Linus was enjoying my spice drawer until I put a child lock on it. I felt bad for him, so I emptied a drawer for him. He stores all of his treasures inside.
I don’t know why Linus isn’t wearing pants outside. But hey… Why not?
Mina is so funny when she laughs. She just goes all in with hearty belly laughter. She also makes these funny little gestures as if she’s bashful about it.
Linus gets a big kick out of us wiping Mina’s drool away, so he’s started to pretend to drool, and then wipe it away for himself.
Co Ba bought Linus a very fancy train table. He insisted on helping Yen put it together.
We went to visit our friend Betty for her town’s Apple Blossom Festival. I thought Yen was crazy when he wanted to bring Linus’s bike, but it turned out to be a great idea (it always happens that way!). Here’s Linus trekking up the huge hill by here house.
And then he found he carnival!
The parade finally started, so Yen and Linus rushed back to the parade route. Of course he biked right down the middle of the road, so all of the people gathered got to see him biking.
Mina and I wore our hats. Sun protection first!
Back to the carnival again. We got there right before it opened. I really enjoyed watching Linus bike around a deserted carnival. The carnival workers got quite a kick out of him.
Here’s Mina back at home and enjoying some tummy time. She has rolled over on her own only once (that I know of). She can do it really well with a little assistance. She frankly doesn’t seem terribly interested, though.
Linus is really into blueberries right now. We found out fast that it’s best for him to go topless when he eats them.
Don’t worry: Linus doesn’t get to eat a lot of chips. I’ll have you know that these are multigrain, not fried, and a very rare treat.
This made me nervous! But the cap was on very tight.
Linus ran into a little boy at the playground who wanted to play with him. Linus wasn’t terribly excited by the idea.
Napping on the manatee this time.
Here’s Mina in Linus’s first Halloween costume. I’ve donated it to a neighbor who is expecting a baby in October.
This one really cracks me up. Look at all of those vehicles! Linus still won’t wear a shirt unless it’s got a vehicle on it. He yells, “Car! Car!” and runs to his dresser.
Getting ready for a ride! He’s so fast now that I have to run to keep up with him.
Here’s a shot from the typical Wednesday morning routine: following the garbage truck as it goes around the neighborhood. I think it’s Linus’s favorite day of the week.
And a beautiful lady.
