A whole month gone again?! As I look through these photos, I’m amazed by the transformation that you can see in just one month. You’ll see what I mean!
I may have mentioned Yen’s morning routine, which involves putting Mina in Linus’s crib for a bit. She loves it! And I can’t believe he doesn’t mind when she touches the manatee – or maybe here it’s OK because it’s just her foot?
You might remember that Yen always used to take selfies with Linus in the morning. He’s starting that tradition again with Mina.
I miss my Linus so much now that I’m back at work. Here we are, early in the morning. We’ve just found Batman’s hiding spot, and I imagine we’re getting ready for breakfast.
One theme you’ll notice this month is our ongoing attempts to get family photos. We still haven’t figured out how to get one of all four of us. I think Yen’s just going to have to get a remote for his camera, and start taking a hundred shots in the hope that something works out. Naturally, none of us ever looks at the camera at the same time. I’ve got that frozen smile from smiling for minutes on end. Linus seems to have spotted a truck he wants to play with. And Mina? Well, she’s just getting by!
Achoo!
Linus has so many books now! He roams around the house reading them. Or sometimes he sits alone on the couch slowly turning the pages. At dinner, I even have to provide a book so he can look at it while he eats. It’s really no different from us reading while we eat, I guess!
Getting ready for a walk! Wow, Mina was still facing in just a month ago?! She would go crazy if I tried to do that now. She wants to see the whole world go by.
Here’s a little series of Linus being a goofus for the camera.
Little Mina really is very smiley, even though she looks so serious in all of these photos! I think she’s not sure what the heck the camera is, and that’s why it gets those intense stares.
In other news, aren’t those the cutest cheeks!?
You can’t help it when you come near the cheeks – you have to kiss!
After she gets dressed for the day, Yen likes to sit Mina up on the couch and get a few shots.
Linus, meanwhile, is still climbing up onto the stairs to sit.
We took a field trip to the Harvard Natural History Museum again. This time we got there just as it opened, so we really had the place to ourselves. Linus just ran wild.
See him there in the background? Just passing through!
Yes, I chose those pants on purpose. They got a lot of compliments!
Little Mina is really getting into the act when it comes to the animals dangling over her chair. She particularly loves yanking on the lion. At this time in the month, she wasn’t really using her left arm, and we were starting to get worried.
But really, how can you worry when you see a bright little face like this?
Trying again to get a nice family photo before Ba Noi goes to Vegas for a week… I think I was probably standing off to the side trying to get them to smile. I just turned out to be a big distraction!
Linus absolutely loves to wear my house shoes. Note that he’s wearing his own slippers inside them… Poor little guy – we gave this wagon back to Tan and Susie. Their Ethan is getting just about the right age to use it to learn to walk. And Linus was positively destroying our walls! He was very sad for a few days, but he seems to be over it now.
This one really didn’t go well! But I can’t help it – her scrunched up little face is so cute. And Linus… He’s just like, “What?”
By the way… please don’t worry that he’s getting a lot of juice. Every morning he gets Miralax in very diluted juice. The rest of the day it’s nothing but water. And tea if he catches me drinking a cup.
Here’s Linus at the laundry station. It cracks me up when he uses the dustpan as a backrest.
Here’s Yen multitasking. I swear he’s such a superstar.
See, now her smiles are starting to come more easily and often.
Here’s our little lady fresh from a bath with her hair slicked down.
I multitask too! Here I’m feeding both of the kiddos at the same time.
She’s gorgeous. I know I’m biased, but it’s true.
Trucks for dinner again?!
Facing out now! Little elf princess…
Why is his hair so wild? I think he’s fresh from getting lotion rubbed all over his face. Yen can be a little… enthusiastic.
Miss Mina after her bath. Isn’t the little lamb towel sweet?
I love this photo. She’s like, “Hooray!”
And now… she begins to giggle. It’s so cute. “Huh huh!” She’s even got a little tickle spot under her collarbone.
I enjoy the look on Mina’s face here. “Um, you guys… Are you sure this is wise?”
We took Linus for his first real hike last weekend. He did an incredible job. He had so much energy, and did a great job following the trail. He also said, “Wheeee!” each time he climbed down a rock (no matter how small).
Of course his skin was well protected!
I didn’t even notice at the time that he was poking Mina’s head. Silly boy.
Here’s Mina’s hair carefully combed down after her bath. It won’t last that way for more than five minutes!
Sleeping beauty. I love those lips!
When we go to the play place to let Linus get his energy out, he spends the entire time just pushing things around. He doesn’t even care if there’s a doll along for the ride.
Napping with the manatee! He loves that thing.
We got a freak snowstorm the first week of April. It really upset the plans – I don’t think we’re going to have many flowers this year at all. But Yen and Linus made the best of it.
At last! She started using her left hand to grab too. I guess we just needed to give her enough things to get interested!
