Good Morning!

I leave the house very early in the morning. If I leave before 6:00, my commute is 25 minutes. If I leave by 6:30, it’s 35 minutes. By 6:45 it’s 45 minutes, and any time after 6:45 it’s anywhere from 55 minutes to an hour and 20 minutes. So you can see that it’s in my best interest to get out of town fast! Unfortunately, if we’ve all had a good night and I’ve done a good job helping Mina sleep, that means no one else is awake when I leave, and I start my day feeling a little bit lonely thinking about my sweet family, warm in their beds.

This morning as I pulled into the parking lot (at 6:45!), I heard my phone give the little chime that tells me I’ve received a text. Here’s what Yen sent me:

What a cute pair! And there’s a little story for me in the photo. When Yen gets up in the morning and brings Linus his milk, Linus grabs the pillows and lays them out next to each other – he will lie on one with his bottle, and Yen will take the other and lie half awake in the quiet. But before they settle in, Linus wants all of the animals out of his crib so he can arrange them next to him. You can see that the manatee (on his right) gets the special spot. This morning, though, Mina has gotten up early, and she is taking Yen’s place. But our little girl is always such a happy morning person. Look at that big smile! Linus, meanwhile, is going about his routine, but he’s checking out what she’s doing to make sure she doesn’t interfere. So while Yen won’t get any sleep, I know that they’re all happy and cozy together, and that makes it so much easier to be away.
